To Blog or Not to Blog

July 24, 2018

What happens if you are taken from your typical sharing platform and placed in an isolated environment with less time to reach out to those that used to listen? What happens when your audience goes from a handful of trusted adults, to two children under the age of two?  If you are like me and you enjoy sharing with others, you might benefit from starting your own Blog.  I thought I would give some of the reasons I started my blog and explain why I continue to do so, with the hopes of possibly encouraging another to do the same.

Sharing in a New Space

Becoming a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) has been a huge change.  Due to the fact that most of my days are spent running after a growing toddler and cradling my growing baby boy, talking on the phone is virtually impossible. My choice to begin blogging came to me as I realized that I needed a way to silently, spill out my thoughts.  Blogging is such a great way to sit down and put my muted voice out there for anyone ready to listen. If you know me, you know this is like a dream come true!  I have always been a talker and my blog truly serves as the best place to do just that.  It has been a wonderful way to stay connected but also create new relationships.  Once I found my niche, I realized that the blogging community is ever expanding and there are so many opportunities to connect with like-minded people looking to share and be heard.  If you are ready to connect in this way, keep reading.

Create Your Community

Often, we find people that seem to have common interest and we share ourselves, whole heartedly knowing that they will give positive feedback which allows us to feel accepted and understood.  Social media allows us to link up with so many great, like minded individuals. The opportunities to connect are endless through Instagram, Facebook Groups, Twitter, etc...  If you are open to growing your following through group collaboration, you will learn a great deal in the process. In most of the groups I have joined, participants are more than willing to comment and spread your message by sharing your blog with their followers.   Browsing and commenting through your followers/subscribers webpages is not only a great way to return the favor but will help you recognize ways to change your own page to increase your following (if that is something you are looking for).  Building my own website has been frustrating at times but by networking through blog support groups, I have gained a great deal of knowledge, support, feedback and devoted enthusiasts.

Write Without Fear

What I enjoy most about the blogging process is that I have an outlet. I am a firm believer that everyone’s story deserves to be heard. If you are passionate about something, I feel that it is a huge benefit to share with anyone willing to listen.  Once you have found your comfort zone write about any and everything you feel compelled to share.  You will find that when you begin to publish your writing, those who are in the same mental space, benefit from your words.

This is something that can be extremely therapeutic. It is one thing to share your thoughts and emotions but when you find that they make a difference to even one person, gratification follows. It is hard to describe the sense of fulfillment you will have in these moments but it I can tell you that the feeling is worth every moment spent opening up to your audience!

Ultimately, blogging is what you make of it and you are in complete control, every step of the way.  It can be a bit overwhelming to know that what you are typing will eventually be read. The most important thing to remember is that nothing has to be published unless you wish to do so.

Up, Up and Away

Life is full of ups and downs and each one of our experiences can be a lesson to others. Most if not all of the valuable lessons learned in my own life, have been taken from what others have graciously shared with me.  That is what is so awesome about blogging.  Using the internet we can search for the specific message we are seeking. When hoping to find solidarity we begin to search and sometimes stumble across someone else’s words (written out in a blog) which can serve as the best advice or validation for the predicament we are facing.  Feedback received from complete strangers who can identify with your own situation can be the best messages to receive as their input is pure and unbiased.  At the end of the day, you can be certain that someone somewhere may be reading your words and smiling in content that they found just what they were looking for in every word you chose to share.   This I why I feel that overall, sharing through a blog can and has been an extremely uplifting experience!
